Sweets Marsh was sweet tonight.

Took the Cannondale for a ride tonight. Needed to get more saddle time on that Tioga Spyder saddle. So far it's working pretty good.

Got in around 20-22 miles of gravel, paved and dirt. Gotta love that. The trails on the dike around Sweets Marsh were just a little wet. Not much mud but the grass & weeds were wet. Good riding regardless. I went out tonight at 7:50pm and just barely made it in the driveway by the time the sun had disappeared. You get a bit more sunlight out here in the sticks than you do in town.

Camp ride.

Saturday I rode at the scout camp for a while. Met up with a few nice folks for a little riding and a little trail mapping. Slade & crew were preparing for the du and I was getting in a nice ride. I was hoping to soften the rutted trail a bit but I doubt riding on them even helped. They are just too hard right now. Sounds like they race day was a success. Wish I could have been there. Instead I was out of town visiting family, which was fun too.

Got in about 7 miles of gravel tonight, part of which involved riding to the grogery store for last minute dinner ingredients. Better than nothing.

I am still loving the new Ergon grips that mr 24hr set me up with. The rounded center seems til fill the void inside of my palm. Can't wait to put in a longer ride with them.

Preferred Start Baby!!!

Just recently received my confirmation card from the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festivel folks confirming that I have been awarded a preferred start. That means I get to ride with John Adamson......at least for a few hundred feet until he pours it on and leaves me to eat his dust.

So, I better work on getting fast before August this year. I skipped the TT last night. Tough choice because I really love TT'ing. Rolled out on the Salsa Mamasita with the great Casey Dean. We rode through Black Hawk Park. Started out fairly fast paced and sort of stayed that way. We made the occasional stop to clear the trail of downed trees. Casey is a fast guy which pushed me more than I would have done by myself. Thanks Casey for taking time out of your bathroom restoration.

I am really loving this new bike. Fits me like it was custom made just for me. The feel of the rear on this bike is difficult to describe. It just feels alive. That's a good thing. The 29 inch wheels rolled over the big rocky sections on this trail with greater ease than any bike I have ever ridden (it's a 29er thing).

When I got home I noticed this gorgios sunset out my kitchen window. Gotta love that.

I will be riding at the Camp this Sat am. Maybe around 6:00 am. Maybe I'll see you there.

No. I have not forgotten how to post.

I don't know why I haven't posted lately. I am going to blame it on the way blogger was making me login. I always had to do it twice. That, and I have been really busy.

A few things.......

I got a pr last Wed night at the time trials. 26.16 (or 26.19) can't remember for sure. That was exciting.

Helped out G-Ted with Trans IA finish line work. What an experience! Good times.

Have around 100 miles on the Salsa Mamasita.......finally!!! Loving it! Those miles should rack up pretty quick now that summer is here........along with the crappy wind. Rode tonight about 12 miles. Really tough pulling the Burley trailer with 70lbs of 3-6 years old little girls. It felt like I was pulling a mini-van into the wind.

Built up a single speed cross bike & have been testing some gear that G-Ted has thrown my way. I'll be writing something up on those soon so keep an eye on his sites.

My baby turned 3 two weeks ago. Seems like just yesterday......

Took a quick trip to La Crosse Wi area last weekend for my brothers graduation reception. Good to see all those folks.

I will post again this week! I mean it! Thanks for being patient. Hopefully you haven't all removed me from your bloggers list.

Salsa Mamasita shaping up.

Just about complete. I installd the rear brake cable after these pics. For now, I will be running this drivtrain. Not sure what gearing will be the ultimate but time will tell. I have a 34t up from and I can't remember what is on the rear. I may jump up to a 36t up front but not yet. I have a Surly front chainring on order that will last a long time. It's stainless steel. Also, next week the new bars & stem should be here. I had a chance to ride it around the yard a little yesterday and I must say, "The Mama is light." Not superlight but that is due to the componets. not the frame. I am guessing 22-23 lbs.

A big thanks to the Ergon folks for the grips. I think I am going to like these.

Cleaning house though so this is my last mountain bike to get rid of before the new one arrives. This frame will fit someone really well if you are between 5'7" and 5'11".

Tires finally arrived today. I have been waiting a long time for these. Thanks Dirty. I love them. Still waiting on a few things to complete this project. Should be done next week somtime if all things fall in place.

This is Mr. Congdon one nice summer evening. He looks lost. No! Wait! He actually looks like he is looking for someone. Could it be my long lost cuz? Sure was. Bidwell took off like a
dirty shirt and missed a crucial left turn. He was found almost an hour later.

Weekend make-over.....

Well. I see that my Cuz has been busy with the new $5 bike that will soon be a sweet vintage fixie. I have my own project and it's almost complete. I bought this little ugly thing for $5 also. She has horizontal dropouts and fit cyclocross tires that are 38mm. 700cc wheel. She has a minor identity crisis though. I call it a single speed cross/touring rig. Cross bike with road bike calipers? Sure. It is too small for me though so I will be selling her soon. She also dropped about 10 pounds with this make-over.

As you can see the bottom pic is the near completed make-over. I will have more pics in a week or so.

Bull riding didn't hurt this bad......

Well. Let me start by saying I am glad the snow is finally here. I get to use these little snowboard scooter tyle machines. WRONG! I hate these stupid machines. I must be too heavy or something. I was off Fletcher Ave near University the other day & thought, "That's a nice hill for sled down." It was indeed. The bad thing is I fell off towards the bottom and now I can't breathe.

That started healing up but then Sunday I decided to get up on the roof and get rid of some of that snow. Too bad the ladder went down out from under me when I sepped onto the stinking roof. That's right! I fell down. Landed 9 or 10 feet below on our deck. Didn't hurt at all, at first. I thought, "I'm okay or dead." Turns out I was okay. The same sore spot from sledding is what broke my fall from the roof. Went to the Chiropractor today and x-rays show everything is fine. Nothing broke, so he adjusted me, ALOT! Go back again Thurs.

I am down to only have two complete bikes. A TT bike (97% complete) and a fixie. The mtb is just about down to the bare frame. Selling most of it all to buy a 29er. Darn G-Ted put this 29er crap in my veins. Also, the fixie is still for sale. Price reduced: $192.57

Those darn trails can't wait until spring for grooming so the girls helped me out a couple of weeks ago. I guess I helped them more than they helped me.

The clip-on aero bars came today. They sure do look pretty. Oh yeah, the shifters are on now too.

I am the stair master

Maybe not the master but this is what I doing during my lunch hours. Not as much fun as riding but, it's easier since I do not have to leave my office building. Lately I have been running up ever step from the 1st floor to the top of the 8th floor. That's 24 steps per floor. I do ever step the 1st time. I ride the elevator down to catch my breath and so I don't fall. There have been three people fall down the stairs since I started working in this building. The last gal completely shattered her elbow and will have perminant loss. I don't need that. The 2nd time up I take two steps at a time. 3rd time up, every step and the 4th time up I take two steps at a time. That averages around 504 steps per lunch hour.

It also doesn't bother my severe shin splits that I have been having. Doc tells me to not run at all for two weeks but I convinced him that running up the stairs doesn't hurt so he said to continue with it.

Been doing a little roller riding but not enough to start mentioning the miles involved.
